The original Sim City game was a revelation to thousands of computer gamers. It was a game where you could really affect the outcome of the game by the way you built your city, and was the forerunner of simulation games to come. Since then, the franchise has been expanded with Titles like Sim Ant, Sim Farm, Sim Isle and Sim Safari. This is SimCity Classic for DOS. It was released by Maxis in 1993. It features support for VGA graphics as well as sound card support. This is NOT the Windows 3.1 version. Aug 30, 2008  This is quite possibly the worst game ever - if you are going to make a sim city game, make a sim city game, if you don't like sim city games, don't buy them. There is nothing detailed about this game, it is about as interesting as one of those fish in a tank screen savers, and despite the fact that it may look kinda good for about 30mins. Experience the newest version of SimCity - the greatest city-simulator of all time. This collection is packed with an expanded core game, the SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow expansion pack, and the Amusement Park, Airship, French, British and German City sets. Create the city you desire and make choices that will shape your city and the Sims in it.

Good game, but limited

First, lets highlight the problems.
There are no clear instructions how to make the game run. I had to search the internet to find the information. You need to reduce the game screen to window mode.
In the game is said to be compatible with my mac. However, after downloading the game, I was informed that it is a 32 bit game. This means it needs to be updated for it to work in the future.
About the game itself.
I actually enjoy the game a lot. The idea is great. Although I find it hard to maintain the city for a long time.
The graphics are very limited. I assume that is due to age of the game.

No where near as good as its predecessors

I got this after the dust had settled from the original disastrous release. I can say that various parts of the game are intruiging but there are so many flaws in the game, it feels disspointing overall. You can now play offline but there are still many problems:
Bugs still litter the game. My cities suffers constantly from power and sewage problems and it seems to be bugs rather than poorly designed city as the game constantly switches from plenty of power/sewage to “critical power/sewage shortages” all the time.
As many other people have said, the maps are frustratingly tiny. Within an hour or two of playing your map is full and you have to start builiding up instead of out. They designed the game to be lots of small cities instead of a large metropolis (for performance reasons). Personally I found the latter in previous Simcities to be much more engaging as the multi tasking challenge was more rewarding and addictive.
The trading element is a nice touch. The traffic side of the game is not challenging at all any more. The graphics are noticebly better but I dont think they add anything over Sim City 4 when you could zoom out and see your entire city in all its glory.
If you are new to the game, you may find some entertainment from this title. If you have played any of the Simcities before Avoid as you will be disappointed.

Excellent and very addictive!

As a fan of SimCity for a long time, I was really disappointed when I first heard that this iteration was originally ‘online only’ and full of bugs.
This version, however, is fantastic - it’s really addictive, and the graphics are great. The smaller maps aren’t so bad, and it’s quite cool to build upwards. In my opinion, it actually helps to create a more immersive experience, as it’s easier to keep track of everything that's happening across the city.
Overall, I think this is a really great game, and would recommend it to previous users and newcomers to the series.
